1. Select Mission Location

Selected Mission Area
This is the actual mission area that will be used in your mission. It will update every time you choose a new point on the map above. You can set other general mission parameters using the options on the right.
Choosing an area too close to the edge of the map can cause issues.
2. Mission ID Number
This sets the file name ID number. It should match the row number from your missions_single.txt file or you can choose to override one of the existing named missions.
3. Background Image
This is the background image used for your mission. You can view all the image thumbnails here.
4. Mission Location Description
This is a description of where your mission takes place. You can enter any text you like.
5. Briefing
The briefing screen is divided into 6 lines of text. Becareful not to use too much as there are no scroll bars on that screen! You can write whatever you want inside these boxes.
6. Mission Date & Time
Choose a random or specific mission date

7. Environment
Custom weather allows you to define your own conditions. If left unchecked the game will dynamically generate weather and ocean characteristics based on Date and Hemisphere chosen above. Tick this box if you want to define your own weather below.

8. Enemy Ships
Important Please Read - Getting this wrong can prevent the mission from loading in game.
There is a maximum number of 15 enemy ships per mission. At least 1 ship must be spawnable.

If you tick the "Use Custom Positions & Waypoints" box then you WILL need to define waypoints for each group (working) as well as search areas for helicopters and planes (not implemented yet). If you don't then the mission will not work!
Leave it unticked if you're not sure! :o)

Waypoints don't work very well if you are using random numbers of units in a group (e.g. Min ships = 1 and Max Ships = 3) this seems to be because waypoints are generated per ship rather than per group of ships and then assigned in sequence. This can cause ships from 1 group to use another groups waypoint list. The best solution is to always use fixed numbers of ships per group (e.g. Min Ships = 2 & Max Ships = 2)

It is also worth noting that ships will not necessarily run their waypoints in the order you set "Each [ship] will spawn between any two of their waypoints and have a 50% chance to run their waypoints in the opposite direction." so think of them as general shipping lanes or patrol routes rather than specific paths.

This seems to have no effect if you are using custom waypoints.

14. Player Position
0,0 is map center. -512,512 is top left 512,-512 is bottom right.
Hint: set a group waypoint to get exact co-ords then paste them here :) However, the player will be moved to within 25 KYD (or whatever they have chosen in the start menu) of enemy units.

15. Player Heading in degrees
0 = North, 90 = East, 180 = South, 270 = WEST
14. Player Depth in ft
Better to start the player at periscope depth (50ft) as you cannot be sure of actual start location depth.
